Ranked battles in Torque Drift 2 are A-Sync (Asynchronous) — meaning you’re not racing live against another player.
Instead, you’re matched against a recorded replay of a real opponent’s run from the past.
This keeps matchmaking fast and fair while still letting you battle real players.
Ranked Battles let you compete against other players to prove your drifting skill and climb through the ranks!
Casual Battles includes all the fun of battles but without the increase and decrease of rank!
Before you can earn a rank in Ranked Battles, you must complete 10 Qualification Matches.
These matches are used to determine your starting rank based on your actual performance.
During qualification, you’ll be matched against players of different skill levels to accurately measure your ability.
You won’t receive a rank or placement until all 10 qualification matches are finished.
Once they’re complete, your initial rank will be assigned, and you’ll begin regular ranked progression.
Each battle has two runs:
- Lead Run – You go first. Focus on hitting all clipping points and zones, while maintaining big, consistent angle to score well.
- Chase Run – You follow your opponent’s lead replay. Try to stay close, mimic their line, and match their angle while keeping proximity for maximum points
Your final result combines both runs to determine a winner.
Ranked uses Skill-Based Matchmaking (SBMM) powered by the Glicko-2 rating system — a proven method for tracking competitive performance.
This system calculates your Skill Rating (SR) after each battle, considering:
- Whether you won or lost
- How consistent your performance has been
- The strength (rank and rating) of your opponent
As a result, players are matched with opponents who:
- Have a similar rank and rating
- Use cars with comparable performance
This creates fair, balanced, and rewarding matchups for every skill level.
Matchmaking is based at the player level instead of per car, which means you can progress and battle similar skilled players across a range of HP cars and layouts so you can rank up in whatever way you choose.
After each battle:
- Win → You gain Skill Rating (SR) and move up in rank.
- Lose → You lose Skill Rating (SR), but can always climb back with consistent performance.
Your SR determines your overall rank and matchmaking placement.
Ranks progress through multiple divisions as you improve:
| Tier | Divisions |
| Unranked | |
| Rookie | 1 – 3 |
| Grassroots | 1 – 3 |
| Semi-Pro | 1 – 3 |
| Pro | 1 – 3 |
| Champion | 1 – 3 |
| Elite | 1 – 3 |
| Legend | Top Rank |
Each tier represents a new level of mastery and competition — only the best reach Legend.
