First, we want to say a massive thank you to every single player who’s joined us on this journey so far. We’ve come a long way, and we’re excited to share what’s next!
As you know, the Grease Monkey Games team has been dedicated to creating the best possible drift game we can. Over the past year, we’ve shipped 12 transformative updates, continuously enriching and evolving the game with new cars, deep customization, multiple tracks, and diverse game modes. We’re excited to announce that we will be launching Torque Drift 2 (Early Access) on Steam on November 28th!
To ensure we can continue delivering the quality you expect—and to keep expanding on all your feedback and feature requests we will be transitioning Torque Drift 2 to a paid title.
The same versions of the game will exist on both Steam and Epic Games Store. Here’s how the transition will work:
Free Demo: We’ll continue to offer a free tier of the game as a demo, which allows you to experience some core gameplay with some limited functionality. (Read next section for more details about the Demo version)
Paid Launch (Early Access) on Steam and Epic Games Store: The paid launch of Torque Drift 2 early access (on November 28th) will be available for purchase at $15 USD for the first two weeks, and $20 USD thereafter. (For current existing players, please read next sections “Transition Process for Existing Players” and “Free Upgrade to Paid version for Early Supporters”)
Players can access Torque Drift 2 across Steam and Epic Games Store using their Torque Motorsport account : All your progress and in-game purchases will be tied to your TM account; however access to the game's features depends on the versions you have on either platform.
For those currently playing the free version on the Epic Games Store, this will transition into the demo version. Here’s what to expect in the demo :
Level Cap: Player levels (to be introduced) will be capped at 5, giving demo players access to Drift Skills, Freestyle mode, the shop, performance upgrades, and tuning.
Limited Garage: Demo players can have up to 3 cars in their garage, with access to only a select number of features.
Paid Features: Multiplayer, events, visual customization options, the paint shop and other new features will move to be accessible in the paid version of the game.
All your progress, including purchased cars and parts, will transfer to both the paid and demo versions across all storefronts. For example, if you currently own 10 cars, they’ll stay in your garage even in the demo, but you won’t be able to purchase additional cars unless you upgrade to the full version. Your progress also seamlessly transfers if you decide to switch platforms.
NOTE: If you switch to the steam version you can always return to the demo version on Epic Games Store however you will need to purchase the paid version on the Epic Games Store if you wish to access all of the games features.
To show our gratitude for your early support, any player who’s spent money on Torque Drift 2 before 27 November 2024 (GMT Midnight 0:00) will receive the Paid version of the game for free!
After the Steam release, eligible players will receive an email with instructions on claiming their free upgrade through a game key on their preferred platform. If you need assistance, feel free to contact us on Discord.
Due to some restrictions around the use of Digital Assets on Steam and Epic Games Store, players who have purchased limited edition cars will continue to be able to use them from within the Epic Games Store Demo. Based on ownership of a Car Digital Asset the Demo will unlock all paid features for you automatically.
From now until the steam release, all Tofu packs in the shop are discounted with bonus Tofu, giving you an opportunity to lock in the premium version early at a significant discount (up to 75% off). This offer extends to all car bundles (excluding the Kyusha bundle) through to the end of 2024.
